Aoyama Flower Market Tea House in Omotesando, Tokyo

03/27 2016

Whenever I go on solo trips, I always look for 1-2 coffee/tea shops where I can relax, reflect, and just appreciate my sense of being. In Tokyo, there is one must visit tea house that I highly recommend for those who want a silent time to relax and think – Aoyama Flower Market Tea House.

Oh-so lovely counter

I visited this place after my Fujiko museum tour. Since I had a heavy lunch, I thought I need a relaxing tea for the cold afternoon. Upon stepping out of Omotesando A4 exit, then crossing the street, I immediately fell in love with the front porch and at the same time, the fragrant smell of fresh flowers! Don’t feel lost if you don’t see chairs and cafe tables right away- you need to walk inside the flower shop to arrive at your destination.

This place is definitely perfect for catchups with your girlfriends!

Aoyama Flower Market Tea House, from the name, combines a flower shop with a tea house. It is simply every girl’s (or even a boy’s) comfort place. Each table has its own fresh flower, and the whole place is well-decorated with flowers in various shapes, colors, sizes, and fragrances! Super duper mega lovely.

Table for goin’ solo customers

They also have a long table at the back for solo customers. However, even though I’m alone during my visit, I opted for a table for two since I want to have my own pink flower. By the way, one comment is that the staff are really nice and respectful too (which is very common in Japanese restaurants).

The second half of the tea house

For the tea and food, I originally planned to have tea only, however the sweet dishes are just too tempting. I ended up ordering a fruity flower based tea concoction (~700 jpy), and a Flower French Toast (~900 yen). When both orders arrived, I simply felt happygiddyexcited because it looks so picture-perfect and cute. Feels like the food came from Tinkerbell and other fairies. The taste is heavenly as well.

My fruity-flower tea. I forgot the name but it’s a citrus-sweet-flowery flavor
