Pokemon is super duper mega close to my heart. I can still remember my childhood days when I used to watch the Pokemon show in Channel 7, and play Pokemon yellow version in our Gameboy color! The adventures, cute characters (my personal favorite is Dratini), gym battles, mysteries, and a lot more makes it just the perfect game for both kids and kids at heart!
Last October 12,2013, Nintendo released Pokemon X and Y worldwide- the first installment in the sixth generation of Pokemon games. This triggered Pokemon fans to line up in their local shops just to buy games and console. Just to add, Pokemon X and Y games can ONLY be played in 3ds consoles since they are completely rendered in 3d graphics. This is the main reason why sales of Nintendo 2ds, 3ds and 3ds xl increased greatly
Of course, since I’m a fangirl, the moment I saw the limited edition 3ds XL console, I said that I should have it! I also convinced Jon to buy and he agreed! (Yehey!).
After hours of searching for the cheapest price and greatest package, we availed of iTech Glorietta’s package. If you pay in cash, it will be a total of 13,000 pesos ( 10,800 for the limited edition Nintendo 3ds XL console US version, 1650 for the Pokemon X OR Y game, and 550 for the 25 in 1 accesories). Expect a few adjustments in price if you will pay for it using credit card. The normal 3ds XL (take note: the only difference of limited edition is the casing) is around 1000 pesos cheaper than the limited edition. 2ds and 3ds models on the other hand are in the range of 6000- 8000 pesos. My personal advice is for you to buy 3ds XL instead since it really has a good look and feel compared with the other models.
What’s inside the box?
(1) Nintendo 3ds XL unit
(2) Manuals and AR cards (Augmented Reality)
(3) 110v charger -BEWARE do not use in Philippines since we are operating on a 220v system
(4) iTech gives a free 220v charger everytime you purchase a console
Overall, I love how Nintendo still preserves its “Gameboy” look and feel. The 3d effect is not that desirable since it makes me feel dizzy. Good thing that there is a slider to adjust the level of 3d effect. Honestly, graphics wise, Sony is still leading the field. What you are actually after with Nintendo are their game titles that almost everyone grew up with and brings back a homey feeling of being a child! A few examples are Super Mario, Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, and of course, Pokemon!
Of course, here’s the star of the show- Pokemon X game! Jon and I also bought Pokemon Y but we agreed that we are going to play it in parallel then trade Pokemons to develop diversity of our collection.
The moment I started the game, saw the title, created my character and had my very first pokemon- Fennekin, there was a sudden flashback of memories! my childhood up to highschool days and weekends are mostly spent playing this game, and here I am again, a 24-year old girl still fond of it. The magic is still there and I super love it!
Which should I buy first? Pokemon X or Pokemon Y?
Answer varies for this- if you are a big fan and collector of Pokemon then go buy both especially if you have the money. The twist here, is that Pokemon X and Y are exactly the same game- the only big difference is the legendary pokemon that you will get in the end and of course, there are also different pokemon present in the X and Y versions.
So, this is as far as I can give for details, so as to avoid any spoiler and still give you the excitement. Have a good time, and remember- You Gotta Catch ’em All! Let me know if you want to trade pokemons or have a battle so we can share our friend codes!
